Orlando...without the kids!

In desperate need of a quick weekend getaway, we looked at Southwest flights and decided to spend a long weekend in Orlando! We didn't tell the kids exactly where we were heading, after all they are well aware of how much fun happens in Florida - Lego Land and "the big boat" :). The only thing we knew that we wanted to do was to visit Universal Studios, so one quick plane ride later we were in much warmer weather with palm tree lined streets!

A few tips & tricks for your next adult trip to Orlando - it's ok to stay in a hotel off the beaten path, it is actually kind of nice! We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Orlando near the Orlando Convention Center, far away from the crowds and it was amazing. There was a rooftop pool to enjoy during the day, and plenty of fun within walking distance at night. We really enjoyed Pointe Orlando (http://www.pointeorlando.com/) which was in walking distance from our hotel, there were plenty of restaurants no matter what you were in the mood for as well as some cute little shops and bars...definitely the "grown-up" side of Orlando and just what we were looking for! If you plan to explore you will want to rent a car (a mustang in our case, b/c we didn't need to fit a car seat for once) for daytime adventures, but you can definitely find plenty to do within walking distance in the evenings.

Check out our next blog post for details on Universal and Downtown Disney, and as always, if you're interested in our next getaway, please let us know!
